As many of you know Drop Zone Records is not just a label for music, not just a label to work alongside Community Projects, not just for pressing vinyl, CD's, carrying out promotions but also putting across our veiws on and about Politics. We urge you greatly to discuss any maters we have covered or indeed any articles you feel we should be covering on our forum, here on this site.

FREE DAZE... Sign the Petition... When your backs against the wall, turn around and write on it!

Now many of you would disagree that this is NOT vandalism, but its all up to your own perspective on whats art and whats not. personally speaking I think this is a nonsense!

We have over crowded prisons as it is! And we are sending people to jail for this! Even if it was an act of vandalism then whats wrong with community service in where Daze could be made to work with the youths on Youth Art projects? Thus channeling his "criminal" behavior in a more constructive manner... not to mention the community benefiting from him rather than paying for him.

And lets not be in any doubt the £270,000 worth of damage only comes to this amount when you add up the ridiculous contracts work they employ for companies to remove this ARTWORK! Also, as BTP said the delaying on trains on these specific lines in order to make it safe for a work force to remove this ART also helped make up the insane amount of money quoted.

If any of you have been to France, Holland, Italy and generally anywhere in Europe and indeed the rest of the world you will see along railways and motorways how Graffiti art is celebrated and beautifully decorates the roadside, like a 21rst century cave painting, a hieroglyphics, if you will, of youth culture, a culture in which is grossly misunderstood and looked down on by those who simply dont understand or even care about need for youthful expression here in the UK! I often think... have we not bigger fish to fry? More important issues to address?

And this is why I show my support Daze and all graffiti artists worldwide who find themselves under similar oppression. I hope you too agree with me and hope you add your name to the petition and also leave your thoughts on the forum!

ACLU RIPS PLAN TO TRACK R.I. STUDENTS WITH RFID CHIPS

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - A tech company with ties to a school district plans to test a tracking system by putting computer chips on grade-schoolers' backpacks, an experiment the ACLU ripped Monday as invasive and unnecessary.

The pilot program set to start next week in the Middletown school district would have about 80 children put tags containing radio frequency identification chips, or RFID chips, on their schoolbags. It would also equip two buses with global positioning systems, or GPS devices.

Steven Brown, executive director of the Rhode Island chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, sent a letter to Kraeger and members of the school committee calling the plan 'a solution in search of a problem' and saying the school district should already have procedures in place to track where its students are. On Monday, he said the program raises enormous privacy and safety concern

Solidarity, Scotland's Socialist Movement - Press Release 16/12/07

Solidarity tonight declared its 100% support for our convenor Tommy Sheridan who has been charged with perjury by Lothian and Borders Police.

We have consistently stated that Tommy Sheridan has been the victim of a collossal vendetta by the Rupert Murdoch media empire. A vendetta that is rooted in Tommy Sheridan's role as a leader of the anti-poll tax movement that destroyed the career of Margaret Thatcher. As well as his uncomprinsing stand against racism, poverty, injustice and as a fighter for ordinary people against the billionaires that Murdoch and his press defends. This vendetta has increased in intensity and desperation following the defamation victory that Tommy Sheridan scored against Murdoch's paper the News of the World in 2006. The now possibility of a perjury trial is a continuation of this witch-hunt by the Murdoch empire.

Eastborn

Solidarity has and will continue to condemn the unprecedented and scandalous squandering of public money - running to hundreds of thousands of pounds - in pursuit of this police inquiry over the outcome of a civil defamation case. This inquiry has now culminated in nine police officers descending on Tommy and Gail Sheridan's home where Gail and their daughter were subject to an unacceptable eight hour ordeal.

Solidarity will continue to defend Tommy Sheridan and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with all those fighting injustce, inequality and for the rights of ordinary working people. All those who want to see a new world free from poverty, war, discrimination and exploitation should support Tommy Sheridan.
